Monel R405

Monel R405 is a nickel-copper alloy, also known as UNS N04405, which is part of the Monel high temperature alloy family. Monel 405 is typically available in bar, rod and wire form and offers enhanced machinability due to its high sulfur content. In addition, this high temperature alloy has excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and good weldability. It is resistant to high temperature seawater and steam, as well as salt, caustic alkali solutions, alkalis, sulfuric, hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids. These properties make it ideal for use in harsh marine and chemical environments. It is also resistant to sulfuric acid and performs well in sub-zero temperatures.

Monel R405 is very similar to Monel 400, but has a higher sulfur content added to create sulfide inclusions that act as chip breakers during machining.
