Monel K500

MONEL K-500 alloy has the same corrosion resistance as 400, but with higher mechanical strength and hardness. It has good heat and corrosion resistance and long-term organizational stability. It is mainly used in the manufacture of turbine blades and gas turbine blades for aero-engines with working temperature below 750℃; fasteners and springs for ships; pump and valve parts for chemical equipment; scraping blades for paper making equipment, etc.

Monel K500 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance and also has higher strength and hardness than Monel 400. This is due to the presence of diffuse intermetallic compounds on the matrix after certain heat treatment by adding elements such as Al and Ti to the alloy. Monel K500 has about three times the yield strength and twice the tensile strength of Monel 400, and higher mechanical properties can be obtained by cold working or age hardening. The alloy has no plastic-brittle transition temperature, making it ideal for the manufacture of various low-temperature devices. Welding increases the strength of the alloy, but reduces its plasticity. Therefore, in order to maintain high plasticity, Monel K500 alloy needs to be heat treated after welding.
