Monel 450

Monel450, also known as copper-nickel alloy, is an alloy made by adding copper, iron, manganese and other elements to the base of nickel metal.

Applications Product Applications: Monel 450 alloy is a versatile material that can be used in many industrial applications: 1. seamless water pipes and steam pipes in power plants 2. seawater exchangers and evaporators 3. sulfuric and hydrochloric acid environments 4. crude oil distillation 5. pump shafts and spiral slurry for equipment used in deep seawater 6. equipment used in the nuclear industry to manufacture uranium refining and isotope separation 7. pumps and valves used in equipment used to manufacture hydrochloric acid production Valves Characteristics Monel 450 is a corrosion resistant alloy with high usage, wide application and excellent overall performance. This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas media, and also has excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated alkali solution. It is also resistant to corrosion by neutral solutions, water, seawater, atmosphere, organic compounds, etc. An important feature of the alloy is that it generally does not produce stress corrosion cracks and has good cutting properties. The organization of Monel 450 alloy is a high strength single phase solid solution. Corrosion resistance Product corrosion resistance: Monel 450 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in fluorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and their derivatives. It is also more resistant to corrosion than copper-based alloys in seawater. Acid media: Monel 450 is corrosion resistant in sulfuric acid at concentrations of less than 85%. Monel 450 is one of the very few important materials that can resist hydrofluoric acid. Water corrosion: Monel 450 alloy in most cases of water corrosion, not only excellent corrosion resistance, but also hole corrosion, stress corrosion, etc. are rarely found, corrosion rate is less than 0.025mm/a. High temperature corrosion: Monel 450 in the air in the continuous work of the highest temperature is generally around 600 ℃, in high temperature steam, corrosion rate is less than 0.026mm/a. Ammonia: Because of Monel 450 alloy has high nickel content, so it can resist corrosion under anhydrous ammonia and ammonia conditions below 585℃
