Monel 400

Monel400 alloy (UNS N04400 or MCu-28-1.5-1.8 or Ni68Cu28Fe) is a nickel-based alloy material with good corrosion resistance in seawater, chemical solvents, ammonia sulfur chloride, hydrogen chloride, various acidic media such as sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, organic acids, alkaline media, salt and molten salt.

Monel 400 alloy also has good mechanical properties, a wide range of service temperatures from low to high temperatures, good welding properties and medium and high strength. Monel 400 is mainly used in chemical and petrochemical industries as well as marine development. It can be used to manufacture various heat exchange equipment, boiler feedwater heaters, petroleum and chemical pipelines, vessels, towers, tanks, valves, pumps, reactors, shafts, etc. The alloy can be machined using the same machining methods used to process conventional iron-based materials. Water coolant is used for high-speed machining. The material shrinks in machining, and attention should be paid to machining shrinkage allowance to ensure dimensional accuracy. Monel 400 has good welding properties and can be welded by TIG and MIG methods, either with Monel body or EniCu-7 wire and electrode; or manual arc welding and submerged arc welding; and can be welded with carbon and low alloy steels.
