Haynes 556

HAYNES 556 is a high strength alloy, resistant to sulfide, high temperature corrosive environments containing chlorine and molten chloride salts, zinc, has excellent high temperature strength and workability, and is an excellent welding material for nickel or cobalt based alloys to iron based alloys.

Haynes 556 is an Fe-Ni-Cr-Co alloy. This alloy has excellent resistance to sulfide, carbonization and chlorine environments, as well as good oxidation resistance, processability and excellent high temperature strength. It is also resistant to corrosion by molten chlorides and molten zinc. Application Areas. The excellent combination of properties of Haynes 556 alloy makes it well suited for high temperature moderately corrosive or highly corrosive environments. Applications include tubes and structural components in civil and industrial waste incineration facilities, rotary kilns, drying ovens in the mining industry and static components in gas turbines using low grade fuels. In the chemical industry, 556 alloy is used in rotary kilns, carbon regenerators, and processes related to the transport of high sulfur oil. In the metallurgical industry, 556 alloy is widely used in hot-dip galvanized jigs, hammers and baskets, and high-speed fans. It is also used in air preheaters for diesel engines, coil heat treatment furnace liners, and in various high temperature applications in the aerospace industry.
