Hastelloy C-22

Hastelloy C22 is an all-purpose nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with better overall corrosion resistance than other available nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys, including Hastelloy C276, C4 alloy and 625 alloy.

Hastelloy C22 alloy has excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It has excellent resistance to aqueous media, including wet chloride, nitric acid or a mixture of oxidizing acids containing chloride ions. Also, Hastelloy C22 alloy has ideal resistance to reducing and oxidizing environments encountered during the process. Hastelloy C22 alloy is exceptionally resistant to a variety of chemical environments, including highly oxidizing substances such as ferric chloride, copper chloride, chlorine, hot contaminated solutions (organic and inorganic), formic acid, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, seawater and salt solutions. Hastelloy C22 alloy has the ability to resist grain boundary precipitation formation in the weld heat affected zone, which makes it suitable for many chemical process applications even in the welded condition. Corrosion resistance Hastelloy C22 alloy is suitable for use in a variety of chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. Hastelloy C22 is one of only a few materials that are resistant to humid chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions, and the alloy is remarkably resistant to high concentrations of chlorinated salt solutions (e.g. ferric chloride and copper chloride).
